The printhead is a very important part of all parts of the printer and it directly affects the print quality. Because the print head of a professional thermal or thermal transfer barcode machine is particularly fragile and does not maintain, it is easy to cause printing abnormalities. Barcode printers mainly use thermal printing and thermal transfer, and thermal printing has greater wear and pollution intensity on the print head compared to the two.
When there are blank dotted lines in the barcode or graphic, and the printing effect is inconsistent, there may be dirt on the print head that needs to be cleaned. For better printing results, the print head should be cleaned regularly. It is recommended to clean before loading new ribbons and thermal print media, or after printing continuous or folded print media for more than 150 meters. There is no need to turn off the power when cleaning the printhead. Next, follow these steps to clean the printhead:
1) Remove the “print head crossbar” under the print head and release the print head to the open position;
2) Remove the ribbon and print media from the printer;
3) Wipe all print points of the print head from end to end in one direction with a cleaning pen or cleaning stick dipped in solvent (97-99% alcohol). Wait for the solvent to evaporate completely;
4) Turn the “paper roller” and wipe the paper roller thoroughly with a cleaning pen, cleaning stick or cleaning cloth dipped in solvent (97-99% alcohol);
5) Remove paper scraps and dust from the drum, print media and ribbon sensor with a brush or vacuum cleaner;
6) Reload the ribbon, close and lock the printhead, press the “Pause Start” key after powering on to check the printing effect.
